At MATO Australia, we do more than manufacture and supply fastening and belt cleaning solutions – we ensure our customers are trained, confident, and ready to get the most out of their equipment. Whether it’s on-site at your operation or at our head office in Thornton, training is part of the MATO service promise.

For team members like Aiden Gilbert, Michael Haviland, Ben Lewis and Dan Breed, delivering practical, safety-focused training is second nature. It’s all about ensuring our clients not only receive best-in-class products, but also the knowledge to use them safely and effectively.

Training That Keeps Operations Moving

From remote mine sites to our purpose-built facility in Thornton, MATO’s Equipment Training Assessment covers both the theory and practical aspects of using the MATO Pneumatic Belt Fastening System. Delivered by experienced team members, this training ensures participants:

  • Understand all major system components
  • Carry out proper pre-operational checks
  • Follow critical safety procedures
  • Perform correct installation and inspection techniques
  • Reduce downtime and extend splice life

Each session is based on official MATO Work Instructions and backed by a nationally recognised competency-based assessment.

Aiden, Michael, Ben and Dan: Technical Experts Who Care

Aiden Gilbert brings passion, precision, and a strong safety mindset to every training session. Known for his hands-on approach and commitment to keeping essential systems running smoothly, he works closely with teams to solve problems and build confidence.

Michael Haviland, with over 12 years of experience at MATO, manages training and service delivery across Northern NSW, QLD, WA and NT. His depth of knowledge and approachable style ensure every participant walks away better equipped for the job – whether they train onsite or at our Thornton headquarters.

With two decades at MATO, Ben Lewis is more than just a sales expert. Known for his structured, detail-driven approach, Ben plays a key role in delivering technical training that’s practical, precise, and tailored to site needs. His deep product knowledge and sharp eye for detail ensure our clients not only get the right solution but understand how to get the best from it.

And new to the team in 2025, Dan Breed brings extensive experience in mechanical maintenance and operations management, with a proven ability to build strong teams and deliver great outcomes. Skilled in negotiation, safety management systems, rostering, and customer-focused solutions, he’s focussed on supporting our clients across Queensland.

Part of the Service. Powered by Passion.

Training isn’t an afterthought at MATO – it’s built into our commitment to quality, safety, and long-term value. Proper use of our U30/U40 fasteners and belt cleaners not only protects equipment and people, it maximises total cost of ownership by reducing rework, downtime, and risk.

Whether you need onboarding for a new team or a refresher course for experienced operators, MATO’s training is available where and when you need it – onsite or at Thornton.
